Hair Cut Fashion, image courtesy of Sophie Macpherson
This project is inspired by the limited menu of hairstyles found in the hairdressing stalls in the markets of North Korea, India, Vietnam and Thailand. No consultation, no negotiation, no substitutions – just pick the cut, get it done and go. Hair Cut Fashion, will recreate this experience, with the hair cut ‘menu’ taken from drawings by Sophie Macpherson and the cuts undertaken by Leigh Ferguson.
Hairstylist, Leigh Ferguson works at the intersection of art and design, through her vocal, instrumental, and harmonic work as well as her collaborative ventures with other artists, musicians and clients. Sophie Macpherson makes films, live events, objects and drawings. Her practice often draws on personal records to investigate subtle communications informing our notions of identity. This installation revisits The Cutting Station, which was shown at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow in 2009.
Cuttings between 5-7pm.
Also runs Sat/Sun 25th/26th July.
